i've seen better days

don't let the smile fool you.
a busted elbow is not fun.

i sensed my own fear before it actually happened.
a second of hesitation.
catch, skid, slide.
launch.

i don't remember flying but i could see the sidewalk getting closer to my face.
the first slam on the concrete.
bouncing.
then body surfing the sidewalk.

people came running.
"are you ok?"
but i just wanted to cry on the curb alone.
and with matt.
who looked back just in time to see my tire catch and immediately pedaled toward me.

adrenaline pumped and the only injury i could feel was the deep road rash on my arm.
it was on the 2 miles home i began to feel everything else.
my thighs rubbed raw on the sidewalk.
my hip bones.
my stomach.
my hands.
all started to burn.

today my muscles ache from impact.
and the bruises are showing up.

needless to say, i wont be doing this again soon...
at least not downhill.
on 33rd south.

you looked super cute before it happened. what made me crazy when i did the same EXACT thing, was my darling husband asking "What happened?" I just wanted to be picked up OFF the sidewalk.

Did you fracture your elbow too?

If it's any consolation, you are the only one I know that looks super hot in biker shorts!

The good news is that your legs look smokin' in those biker shorts.

Boo. What a total bummer. I bet you looked really beautiful flying through the air though...you always do. I agree with Jylare that you are smokin' in those biker shorts. (Not to be creepy)

Ughhh bike crashes are the worst because they totally bust your confidence on the bike. I hope you're ok and back on the bike soon! Go spandex!

This is why I don't bike. I'm risk adverse.

I hope it heals super fast!
