much ado about nothing.

we've been DYING to go on a vacay.

the best laid plans of mice and men, oft do go awry.
[i have a lot of great ideas]

hawaii didn't work out because we couldn't recruit the numbers we needed.
italy was a sure thang with the swapps (they dig it) until we did the exchange-rate math.
(don't worry we'll make it back for a torino 2006 reunion)

BUT
it looks like our next adventure will be packed with
satay, panang curry and pad grau pau

come this spring.
Thailand.

Scott and I are trying to work out details to see when we can go- its on our TO VISIT list and we wouldn't want to go with anyone but you guys!!! How fun would that be!! Scotts brother just got back from there and I have a bff who lives there for a month every year! We'll be set on what do see and where to go!!

Okay.. we went for a month so we stayed all over the place. If you give me a particular place I'll look up where we stayed!

We flew into Bangkok which I think is quite smelly, dirty, hot, and my least favourite place overall! But, an experience! I'd say two days there is enough.

From Bangkok we took an overnight trip to Kanchanaburi to see the Bridge over the River Kwai, Erawan Falls, and the Tiger Temple. Petting tigers was amazing!

Next was Chiang Mai, where we stayed at a conservation centre and TRAINED ELEPHANTS for three days - the highlight of the trip. Go there if you can, you will love it. http://www.changthai.com/

We ended off in the beaches at Khao Lak and Phuket. Beautiful. We stayed on Kata Lake, which is the less busy area of Phuket. Snorkelling and scuba diving is awesome there, if you're into that.

Everything was cheap, cheap, cheap. The food I got sick of because it's rice for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, topped with meaty sauce! Good pad thai though! There's plenty of American food like pizza, burgers, etc. all over.

You can read a little about the elephants if you look at my blog here http://ramblingsofawanderlust.blogspot.com/2009/01/elephant-training-101.html

or just look under the travel link!

Hope that helps!
