The City of Lovers

Don't get me wrong, I do love Rome, but Paris might be stealing the #1 slot.
Whitney, Kate and Robyn are taking little jaunts there in the future, which makes me uber jealous. (I think it's settled: we need to go back.)

In case you think you might want to go, here are our suggestions:

1. Travel from London to Paris via the chunnel.
Contact Evansgroup Tours for the 60 pound fares. Can't be beat. City center to city center in 2 hours! You may have to take the train early morning or in the evening but it will save you some dollars if you're flexible with dates and times.

3. Read StephModo's.
We LOVED Poilane. I stopped at seemingly EVERY boulangerie for a 'croissant du buerre' and this was one of the best! (Matt loved the apple tarts)

4. Hang out at the Musee D'Orsay.
Do yourself a favor and spend a couple hours in this old train station turned museum. It. is. magical.
Be sure to stop by the cafe on the top floor for a spreading city view on the Seine and some pretty good hot chocolate.

5. Eat at Cafe Constant or Les Cocottes.
Both have amazing food from chef Christian Constant. We liked it so much, we ate their twice. (In the 7th, on Rue Saint Dominique, not too far from the Eiffel Tower. Don't want to take my word for it?

(I really like this concept- EVERY meal is cooked in Le Creusset) Our tip, go on a week night and get their early before the dinner rush at 7:00 pm. They'll tell you the wait in 25 minutes, but it's an hour, and well worth it. The pumpkin soup is creamy and savory. The mashed potatoes melt in your mouth like cotton candy. ENCROYABLE!

6. Stay at Hotel le Bellechasse.
I've never had the pleasure, but I'm dying to. Amazing locale, great reviews, and inspiring interiors. They regularly have 100 Euro / night deals.


7. Take a City Free Walking tour. We learned so much:
- Where the story of Sweeney Todd REALLY took place.
- The Shakespeare Book Co. has produced an endless number of world renowned authors.
- Why it's called the Latin quarter.
- Where the architect hid himself in the facade of Notre Dame

They have multiple tours that leave throughout the day. They say they're "free" and they are - but they ask for a donation at the end. Peer pressure plays a bit of a role, but reward them as you see fit.
