below are 2 terrible pictures of our living room.
{in the throws of a redesign.}
it's IMPERATIVE for future progress that i decide which rug to use
and which to throw on craigslist.
i CAN NOT decide.
i like both for different reasons.
it's already a 50-50.
and i've phoned a friend.
now i'm asking the audience.
if you love me.
{and even if you don't}
please vote.
here are some things to keep in mind:
please - don't let me down.

here are some things to keep in mind:
1. the chair in the corner (red check) will be a mocha velvet at the end of this week
2. there will be a large square ottoman that i would like to upholster in a geometric print OR even a floral
3. the mantle will be staged entirely differently (including the poppy colored clock)
4. there will be avocado green curtains hanging behind the couch

While I love a great shag rug, the floral adds so much visual punch. I love it.
I love the shag rug. I think it gives you more wiggle room with a future ottoman or furniture, too. :)
i vote the first...just for a little more personality.
I'm sure this isn't news to you, but the first gives the room a more cozy, visually interesting feel. The shag is nice, but would require more changes to the room to really "make" it, you know? So I vote A. You get more bang for your buck in terms of design without having to change things. Excited to see "after" pictures!
i vote the 2nd. i think you've "personality-ed" up the room already, and the 1st one is a little too busy with the other accents you have going on.
Jason and I both vote for the first one. And your giraffe chair is looking great :D
Definitely the brown one. Ps I love all your DIY projects. I wish I was you :)
I prefer the floral but then you'd have to upholster the ottoman in a geometric or even a solid
the oatmeal rug.
Depends. While I like the first rug better than the second one, it could clash with a print ottoman. If you do too many different prints in the same room, it just gets to be too much. So you have to decide...go neutral on the rug so you can have print furniture, or go neutral on the furniture so you can have a print rug.
Good luck! And let us all know what you decide!
I vote B. It looks more comfortable if you ever happen to be laying on it. Also I agree with the other voters that it could clash with the prints. It also allows for more design overs in the future.
Most definitely choice A. 'Nough said.
choice a gets my vote.
i'm a choice b. i like how it lights up the room. especially with all the dark furniture you have got going.
Choice A - I love it.
the first one for sure.
A all the way.
I have a confession. I have been craving the Jacobean ever since I saw it in your place. Every time I go to Target, I slow my pace a little through the rug aisle. If one happens to show up in my apartment one day, will that drive you crazy?
A for sure.
LOVE LOVE LOVE THE COLORS IN CHOICE A! choice b dulls your room out!
i like choice a. i think its more fun and brings the rooms together nicely. good luck deciding :)
I think B, especially if you are going to do a pattern on the ottoman.
hi, im chelsea. i don't know you, but I like your blog.
this is tough. i like the floral, unless you go with a geo/floral print ottoman, an idea i love. but i will love you and come visit either way.
can't you keep both?
i love you. so i vote. i vote brown floral.
Brown. For sure.
I vote brown! That floral already brings out the best in your pieces, so imagine what it will look like when the entire room is put together!
I don't know you, but I love your blog. And I love that brown rug! Can't wait to see more photos.
A. Go big or go home.
I vote brown. Do the ottoman in something simple. Its gonna look awesome.
