Back To School

,
There's something magical about September.

And though the days of back to school shopping, parading our new GAP purchases in a fashion show for dad, and packing an L.L. Bean back pack full of clean marble notebooks and text books covered in brown paper are far (too far) behind me - it seems that my own personal calendar will always start in September. (New Year's is a lame holiday anyway)

I find myself drawn to the school supplies aisles - coveting Hannah Montana folders and fancy binders that make Trapper Keepers seem like they are for preschoolers. (Too pedestrian even for kindergartners) I long for a pencil box full of whatever Mr. Borger, or Mrs. Caione, or Mrs. Bedford requested - crayons, kneading erasers, No. 2 pencils, protractors ...

I envy Erica for her part in the back to school ritual.
I admire NieNie for her fancy first day of class dinners.
I long to reply in unison to a buxom elementary-school principal "Good Morning Mrs. Glotzer."
(you had to be there to understand).

Just last week I found myself humming the alma mater tune of "Ol" Bedford Road - my old elementary school.

I have decided to participate in the festivities of this September, the most wonderful time of the year, with the only thing that could satiate this back to school nostalgia - retail therapy!

Yes, yes. I feel this nostalgic air this time of year too. I think you're right about deserving a new outfit so I can participate in the back to school festivities. I'm going to go tell Blair to give me his credit card!

I felt that way too, until I started sending kids to school. Then it all comes back with a twist - and then you have to deal with the PTA!

I don't know this Ashley or the Blair of which she speaks (assumption: husband), but I'm going to go tell Blair Waldorf to give me HER credit card.

I feel this way too! And I seriously covet that red Parent Teacher Conference ensemble. You have amazing taste, Miss Noelle.
