An Experiment

I'm seriously considering a 10 day stint with raw food...

If you've never dined at a raw-food restaurant, you're missing out.

To compensate for the lack of cooking, they combine the most flavorful ingredients for delicious meals. They're take on "pizza" is different, but delicious.
.
RAW PHILOSOPHY:
"Everyone knows it is healthy to eat fresh, uncooked fruits and vegetables every day. A diet that includes whole, ripe, raw organic fruits and vegetables, sprouted nuts, seeds, and grains can greatly contribute to achieving optimum health.

Organically grown raw and living foods provide high-quality nutrition while naturally supporting both proper digestion and a well-functioning immune system. Eating these life-giving foods helps to alkalize the body, a key factor in building excellent health. When the body is in an alkaline state, it is better able both to absorb nutrients and to expel toxins more efficiently. The SAD (Standard American Diet) of meat, bread, dairy products, processed/cooked foods, caffeine, and alcohol creates an acidic state in the body, which contributes to a variety of health problems."
(This sounds slightly familiar... section 89? Not saying JS was preaching rawism, just food for thought)
.
My favorite place - Omar's Rawtopia.
On Highland Drive in SLC - if you go, get the Sweet Basil Salad. You won't be sorry.
.
The health benefits can't be denied.
And I think I'd like to try it.

Do you know any raw foodies I could bombard with questions?

i love eating raw food... i try to do it more often than not and try to avoid cooking things that don't need to be. my sister, heather, is a raw vegan (most of the time). she'd be a great source to contact. her email is heathermarchant@gmail.com or her blog is www.themarchants.blogspot.com

raw vegan.... that's intense! not sure i could do that - requires a lot of preparation.

so far, it's been a delicious endeavor. though i'm not TOTALLY raw yet. it'll be more of an experiment than a lifestyle change.

i'm excited about it though.

Noelle! Brittney gave me the link to this post and im so glad she did. i love when someone is genuinely interested in raw instead of the usual skeptic.

Omar's is amazing! try the zucchini pasta, please. also, Omar(the owner) is a character, i only wish you will someday have a conversation with him...maybe you have and if so, i would love to swap stories.

Pure Food and Wine, like J.R.G. mentioned, is owned by a lady named Sarma and she also has an incredible website: oneluckyduck.com. It's multifaceted and really great.

enjoy the ride!

Omar and I have been emailing - he actually came to O.C. Tanner, so we've met and spoken a few times.

He's totally loveable. (He changed his last name to Pure Heart!) I have a breakfast smoothie recipe he wants me to try, saysit'll make "my body sing."

I'm excited.
Just trying to see if Rawvolution will deliver to Utah!
